Lay out five groups of manipulatives (one group with 10, 4 groups with a number less than 10). Can your child quickly identify (without touching or counting out loud) which group of manipulatives has 10?

Lay out all of your Ten Frames with Dots from the printable templates provided. Can your child identify which 10 frame contains 10 dots without touching our counting out loud? 

Can your child count by multiples of 2, 5, and 10?

Can your child add and subtract two numbers (up to 100) without a pencil and paper (Mental Math)?

Can your child demonstrate equal sharing/grouping by asking “Can you show me 4 groups of 3? Now can you tell me a story about 4 groups of 3?”

Can your child use manipulatives to show equal groups with manipulatives?

Some examples could be 2 equal groups of 3, 4 equal groups of 5, etc.

Can your child show you how to make ½ and ¼ by folding a piece of paper?

Can your child demonstrate “renaming” using their Place Value Mat and manipulatives?

Example: 17+4: your child would have to add 3 more to the 7 to make another group of 10, so they will have 2 groups of 10 and 1 left over. Your child should realize that they can’t have 10 or more in the one’s column.

Can your child tell time to the hour and half-hour on an analog clock?

Can your child identify the value of all types of coins that exist in your country?
