Our Shapes Puzzles are a great way to play with the concepts of parts to whole. 🔺 🟦 🟡⠀

For this activity, you need construction paper, scissors, a pencil, and clear contact paper. Begin the activity by inviting your child to sit at the table with you. First draw a shape on each piece of construction paper (triangle, rectangle, square, circle) and review the names of the shapes with your child before they cut the shapes out. Take out the clear contact paper and work together to cover the shapes with the contact paper, making sure to cover both sides. You can lay one sheet of the contact paper sticky side up on the table after you have taken the backing off, have your child lay the shapes on the sticky side of the contact paper, and then cover them all up with another piece of contact paper by putting the sticky side down onto the other sticky side that is face up. You will have manually laminated the shapes. Ask your child to cut them apart, then you can trim the edges. Cut each laminated shape into 4-5 pieces for your child to use as a puzzle. Once the shape has been cut apart, see if your child can put it back together again. Give them some time to enjoy taking the puzzles apart and putting them back together again.⠀
