Big, Bigger, Biggest Activity: Unit blocks are a Big, Bigger, Biggest Activity:

Unit blocks are a great resource to use at home or in the classroom as a way to teach the concept of size. Invite your child to sit with you on the floor or at a table. Look over the blocks and ask your child to find the block with the square face and place it in front of them. Tell them they will be building a few towers with these blocks. The first tower they will build is just one block high using the block with the square face. Next, invite them to choose two more of the same block and build another tower right next to the first block. Compare them. Which one is bigger? Now, invite them to choose three of the same block and build a tower next to the first two. Ask them, “Which one is the biggest?” Continue building towers together using the words big, bigger, and biggest. Feel free to use some of the other blocks, adding to the existing towers. Some other questions you can ask to prompt your children are: “How many blocks are in your tower? Which tower has more blocks? How can you tell?”
